The club has always had a number of members who are interested in narrow gauge railways. Following the dismantling of our Caeredwyn layout discussions started on whether we should replace it with a new 009 layout. The decision was taken to do so and a design prepared. Problems with baseboards on existing layouts led to us deciding to use baseboard kits, which were duly ordered and delivered just as Covid struck!

Once we were back to the club construction commenced. Updates on our progress will be posted on our Facebook page. At present the layout does not have a name, something else we need to think about!
The layout is set in Wales. It will be a continuous run with a station at the front and off scene storage yards at the back. The station is also the junction for a branch serving a slate quarry.
009 models are built to 4mm/foot scale (the same as 00), but running on 9mm gauge track. This combination represents a railway with a gauge of 2 foot 3 inches (690mm).
